Our Mission
At Orangutan Adventure, our mission is to offer every traveler a deeply human adventure, respectful of nature, and rooted in local culture.
We believe that true luxury is reconnecting with what matters: nature, others, and oneself. That’s why we created an eco-lodge in the heart of Sumatra’s nature, close to orangutans and the wild beauty of the rainforest.
Each experience we offer, from trekking with orangutans to cooking classes and bamboo workshops, respects the local wildlife, flora, and traditions. Our guides and cooks come from the region, as we want this adventure to primarily benefit the local communities.
Our commitment is simple: protect this paradise while sharing its richness with you, ethically and sustainably.
My name is Ipul, I’m a child of Bukit Lawang and an experienced guide for over ten years. The wildlife and flora of my jungle hold no secrets for me.
In 2019, I founded Orangutan Adventure, a family business. But COVID disrupted my plans and drained my savings, forcing me to put my dream on hold.
In 2023, I met two French travelers on a road trip. Touched by my story and passion, they helped me relaunch the project. In May 2023, I welcomed my first travelers. And in June 2024, we opened our eco-lodge: Mimpi of Orangutan Adventure, located amidst nature in perfect harmony with it. Mimpi means “dream” in Indonesian.
Today, my team and I pour our heart and soul into this adventure to offer you a warm welcome and unique eco-responsible stays.
We wish to remain a small company to stay true to our main goal: making your stay — from the organization to your departure from Bukit Lawang — an incredible moment, forever etched in your heart.
